Ableton Live uses a background helper process named "Ableton Index" to index
sound libraries, sample packs, user folders, and VST/AU plugins. 

While indexing is useful for search, "Ableton Index" frequently runs rogue:
  • Consumes 100% to 200%+ CPU across multiple cores indefinitely.
  • Freezes Ableton when your disks wake up
